Karl is a partner in our Employment and Safety team and is based in our Adelaide office. He has practised as both a barrister and a solicitor for almost 20 years and has extensive experience advising on a broad range of workplace legal issues. Karl’s practice specifically focuses on industrial relations and the Fair Work Act, employment law, Work Health and Safety law and workers’ compensation.

Karl has advised the Commonwealth Government statutory agency, Safe Work Australia, on the draft regulations to the new model Work Health and Safety laws and has a particular interest in corporate governance issues under the new WHS laws.

Karl advises industry stakeholders on all aspects of the WorkCover scheme and conducts high level litigation for WorkCover SA, self-insured and registered employers.

Karl is a past lecturer on workers’ compensation law at the University of Adelaide Law School. He is also a nationally accredited trainer in workplace relations and workers compensation and provides training services on a regular basis. He obtained his law degree from University of Adelaide and holds a Graduate Diploma in Labour Relations from the University of Melbourne.

Karl has presented papers at various conferences around Australia on a range of topics including company officer due diligence and the model Work Health and Safety laws for the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), as well as numerous papers on workers compensation for the Self-Insurers of South Australian (SISA) conference and on employment law issues at the 13th Annual Law Intensive Conference on Transfer of Business Under the Fair Work Act.
