Fred Potgieter

Fred has a particular focus on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, all aspects of franchising and related commercial matters. He advises Australian and international clients on a range of contentious and non-contentious issues across various jurisdictions.

Fred’s intellectual property expertise includes Patent, Trade Mark, Design and Copyright infringement proceedings, passing off and common law intellectual property infringement proceedings and Trade Mark prosecution and opposition proceedings .

He also has significant experience in drafting licence and assignment agreements, intellectual property due diligence for commercial transactions and advising on the commercialisation of intellectual property.

In addition to this, he regularly structures and drafts franchise documentation and agreements, and a variety of distribution, supply and manufacturing agreements.

As well as holding a Master of Laws, Fred also holds a Post Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and a Post Graduate Diploma of Management.
