Brett has more than 20 years of extensive experience in gaming and liquor law, in particular acting in a diverse range of projects for registered clubs, hotels and associations.

He leads the firm’s gaming, liquor, hospitality and leisure group which consists of five specialist practitioners from various practice groups throughout the firm, including Property & Development, Construction, Dispute Resolution, Intellectual Property and General Commercial and Corporate law.
 
Brett understands the emphasis on income diversification for clubs, and his clients include a range of clubs, WMS Gaming Inc., major wine and liquor brands and peak industry bodies such as GolfNSW, Leagues Clubs Australia, the RSL and Services Clubs Association, the Federation of Community Workers and Sporting Clubs, the Club Managers Association of Australia, as well as other hospitality and gaming industry clients. Brett is currently involved in major development projects for a number of clubs involving commercial, retail uses, aged care, child care, accommodation, hotel developments, residential developments and franchises.
 
Some of Brett’s premier projects are:

  • Revesby Workers Club - $150 million mixed-use development.
  • Rooty Hill RSL Club – various diversification projects.
  • Wentworthville Leagues Club – Multi-site mixed-use development.
  • Albury SS&A Club – First cross border amalgamation (Victoria and NSW) golf club acquisition and major retail development.
  • New Brighton Golf Club – Joint Venture with Mirvac for more than 400 homes.
  • Albion Park RSL Club – Retail Development.

Brett was appointed by ClubsNSW to the Club Industry’s peak Governance body, the Code Authority, in 2005. The Authority administers the Code of Conduct for NSW Clubs and hears and determines complaints made under the Code. He was also inducted into the Club Managers Association of Australia Hall of Fame as an associate member in 2002 in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the provision of legal services to the Clubs Industry.
