Jacquie has practiced employment and industrial relations law since 1990, in both New South Wales and Victoria. She has guided clients through three major reforms to the federal industrial relations system, and is now enjoying advising them on the new system that has been created by the Fair Work Act 2009.

Jacquie and her team of lawyers advise on individual and collective employment relationships from recruitment to termination and beyond, including:

  • the application and interpretation of industrial laws and instruments, minimum employment standards, discrimination, workplace safety and privacy laws
  • common law issues impacting on the workplace, including the law of employment contracts, confidential information and restraints
  • negotiating and drafting employment contracts, enterprise agreements and independent contractor agreements
  • employment and industrial relations law implications of corporate transactions
  • implementation of employment management and change strategies, including redundancies
  • preparing tailored policy documents to ensure both compliance with relevant laws, and fit with the client’s workplace culture.

An experienced litigator in employment and industrial relations, Jacquie has specialist expertise in discrimination, unfair dismissal and breach of contract claims; industrial disputes; and prosecutions for breach of industrial and safety laws. She is a tough negotiator, and looks for commercial and non-litigious solutions where possible.

Jacquie is recognised as a leading discrimination lawyer, and is an industry leader in designing and presenting tailored compliance training programs for employers.

She has expertise in a wide range of industries, including transport, financial services, IT, agribusiness, manufacturing, retail, education, health and aged care, and community services.  She works in both the public and private sectors.

Jacquie is a member of the NSW organising committee of both the Australian Labour Law Association and the Australia and New Zealand Education Law Association.  Her work is published in legal and industry publications, and she is sought after as a speaker at conferences.
